If Alice Can, Anyone Can 2026: A Hope Against Cancer Press Release

On 29th August, nearly one hundred riders cycled from Old Dalby in Leicestershire to Sheringham in Norfolk to raise money for local charity, Hope Against Cancer, to celebrate the life of Alice Greaves and to honour her wish that the ride continue.

Alice, from Old Dalby, passed away in February from multiple forms of cancer including Triple Negative Breast Cancer, she was only 27.

She was a courageous advocate for local cancer research and care, she lifted others and was always a voice of understanding. She personally raised more than £450,000 for three local charities and her family was determined that they continue her incredible legacy with this ride, which is the third of its kind.

Her Mum, Libby, and her Dad, David, along with her brother Alfie, Danny and Izzy, all took to the saddle for the 125-mile journey. They, and every person on the ride, carried Alice’s smiling image on the back of their shirts.

The money raised will support Hope Against Cancer fund the internationally recognised Hope Cancer Trials Centre at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and researchers at the local universities which have helped make Leicestershire and Rutland a hub for some of the best cancer research and care in the world.

Libby told us, “We are truly overwhelmed and proud of the ‘If Alice Can, Anyone Can’ cycle 2026. Whilst we know Alice's legacy is phenomenal, we really didn't expect such an incredible day and to raise in excess of £140k.

“It was one of the hardest days since losing Alice, because this was her ride and all we wanted was her to be part of it, but each and every one will have made her proud, from cyclists, to her Hope family crew in the run up to and on the day, volunteers, supporters and general public It was nothing short of inspirational, just as Alice was.

“We as a family, whilst overwhelmed right now, are also, more determined than ever to continue Alice's fundraising and awareness legacy and working with the amazing Hope charity”

I’m incredibly proud of the Hope Against Cancer team, whose energy, commitment and teamwork contributed so much to the success of the event. My sincerest thanks goes to everyone who took part, either as a volunteer, supporter or a cyclist and helped make the day so special.”

The ‘If Alice Can, Anyone Can’ cycle ride was organised by Alice’s family and the team at Hope Against Cancer. It is a remarkable amount for such a small team to raise in a single day. It truly shows how much Alice, and her chosen causes, mean to everyone.
